Home Maintenance Tips

 

    • Change air filters monthly

     

    • Buy a year's supply of filters on Jan. 1st

     

    • Very Important if you have allergies.
  • Wipe down inside of fridge and replace baking soda in fridge to keep a fresher smelling refrigerator
    Flip your mattress and vacuum your mattress and/or box spring. Bed bugs are a real thing!!

 

  • Clean baseboards and trim
    Inspect and reseal grout/caulk as needed in tiled areas – This keeps water from traveling and bugs out!
    Wash range hood ventilation filters
  • January - Do a home safety check – replace your batteries once a year in your smoke detector and C02 detector. Check all locks, and look for things like loose knobs, shelves, tripping hazards.

 

  • Vacuum fridge coils – helps your refrigerator operate more efficiently.
    Anytime: Review renters or homeowner's insurance and photograph any new items before it's time to renew your policy

 

  • Anytime: Build or refill your disaster preparedness kit
  • Early Spring: If you leave your windows open... get ready for tons of YELLOW POLLEN throughout your home!!!

    Early Spring: Book an HVAC inspection

 

  • Clean exterior dryer vent – this is a known fire hazard and a huge cause of home fires and often overlooked
    Wash windows once or twice a year – The longer you wait the worse they get.

 

  • Clean the tops of your fans, that dust builds up!
    Clean out your gutters – water can destroy your home. Cleaning gutters and trimming back trees away from your home should be top of mind.
    Spring & Fall is ideal: Flush hot water heater – As this unit collects mineral & sediment debris that causes build up on your faucets. The typical end of life is 10-12 years. Fyi-the brand matters.

  • Late Spring and Late Fall: Reverse the ceiling fan direction for proper air flow

Book a chimney sweep if you have a chimney. Very important for wood burning fireplaces

  •  Time for the HVAC guy inspection again to check on your furnace

Well guess what, it does and if you are not in the habit of turning off those outside hose bibbs you could have THOUSANDS of dollars of damage for no reason.
